Expert-Group Event Industry

The Corona-related lockdown has hit the cultural, sports and leisure event industry particularly hard. In order to remain able to act together, the working group of the Berlin event industry AG BerVA was formed in spring 2020. In October 2020, the merger resulted in the formation of the Berlin event industry specialist group within the BMC.

Corona is leaving, but our specialist group is staying. The Berlin event industry section of the Berlin Music Commission (BMC) is an association of event companies from all sectors that actively participates in current political events and represents the concerns of Berlin’s music and culture industry.

Daniel Domdey – d2mberlin GmbH, Die Wühlmäuse GmbH

Born in Berlin in 1974, Daniel Domdey has been firmly rooted in the German-language comedy scene for more than twenty years now. He worked as a theater manager for the Berlin cabaret theater “Die Wühlmäuse” from 1999 to 2008, before putting his experience and passion into practice, first with the agency “N.I.A. = Nicht irgend ein Agent” and, since 2010, with “d2mberlin GmbH”. There, together with his team, he combines the fields of ticketing and event production – primarily in local implementation with a regional focus on the new federal states and Berlin – and guarantees the complete handling for an event from the first moment of planning to the realization. Thus, d2mberlin inspires hundreds of people every day: in comedy and cabaret shows, concerts, readings and lectures, in halls and theaters, clubs, arenas and halls. In mid-2018, Daniel -parallel to his d2m- returned to the “Wühlmäusen” as operational managing director and is now once again taking on the challenge of offering established artists as well as up-and-coming newcomers an unforgettable stage.

Stephan Hengst – Teleporter Music, Berlin Music Commission

Stephan Hengst, born 1983 in Berlin, is a self-employed music, project and event manager. Since 2014, he has headed the Berlin Music Commission’s music business conference Most Wanted: Music. For six years he held the production and event management for the interdisciplinary technology festival Tech Open Air. Since 2019, Stephan has been Director of Events at WeAreDevelopers, the world’s largest software development trade show and conference with 10,000+ attendees.

Stephan’s background is in the music business. After many years as a musician, producer and songwriter in various bands with some attention and also chart successes, Stephan was one of the first to study music business at the Popakademie in Mannheim. Before the end of his studies he founded the artist management agency Teleporter Music. Today, Stephan’s focus is on the planning and execution of complex B2B and B2C events. In addition to his full-time activities, Stephan Hengst lectured on music management and music marketing at various universities and other educational institutions (including Macromedia Hochschule, SAE Institute, Music Pool Berlin, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg) from 2012 to 2017. Stephan’s professional career began at the age of 16 with a commercial apprenticeship at the then DaimlerChrysler Group.

Stephan Hengst is honorary spokesman for the event industry section of the Berlin Music Commission, a member of the BMC board of trustees and part of the board of the Verein zur Förderung der Popkultur (Association for the Promotion of Pop Culture), which organizes the annual Pop Culture Award.

Olli Hörn – innercircle GmbH, Hoernsenmusic

Oliver Hörn is first and foremost a true North Frisian born in 1970 – and that says a lot. He grew up just outside the Danish border, not far from Husum, and from there he set out to conquer the world. Curious and open to all disciplines, he completed various apprenticeships, did a traineeship at the Rheinzeitung in the ’90s and then worked as an editor of an international music magazine. Detours to Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina led the devoted HSV fan to land in Berlin – right in the middle of the music business. At buerozwotausend (music management & publishing, tour management) he learned the secrets of the business and became established as an active member of the music scene for over 20 years. As a manager, publisher, label owner, consultant and tour manager, he has been on the road with over 100 bands (incl. Revolverheld, Livingston, Anna Ternheim, Mark Owen, Mando Diao, Popstars and many more) and with many agencies (incl. Wizard Promotions, Extratours, Contra Promotions) around the globe. In 2002 he founded the agency/music publisher TonKunstMusik (for years an Edition at EMI Music Publishing), which today operates as the label and management company Hoernsen Music. Current artists on the label are Alex Uhlmann and Wilson Gonzales Ochsenknecht, formerly also myballoon and Heftig, among others. Since 2012, Oliver Hörn has acted as managing director of the event service provider Innercircle GmbH in Berlin, and in 2021 also became co-partner and managing director of the international event agency VSD Hamburg.

Malte Brants – Score & More Music, Ibrahim & Boldt Holding GmbH

Born in Oldenburg in 1973, Malte Brants has been working in different areas of the music industry for almost 25 years. Starting his career with a student job in a record shop, he moved from various jobs in the stationary record retail segment to one of Berlin’s largest local concert promoters. Here, his professional focus was on event financial controlling and he was entrusted with a wide variety of in-house projects such as the new construction and management of venues as part of this job.
Since October 2021 he has been working for Ibrahim & Boldt Holding GmbH, under whose umbrella various artists’ agencies and a local event company operating nationwide are united. His main area of activity is in the field of financial controlling.
In 2014, together with a partner, he founded the label and the associated music publisher SAMM – Score & More Music.
