SPRINGSTOFF is founded in 2003 by opera singer and audio engineer Rainer Scheerer. In 2011, the linguistic and cultural scientist Anna Gross becomes a member of the company. In cooperation with the queer feminist rapper Sookee, they develop events such as “Female Focus”, a series of events that put women* in hiphop into focus or the party series “Let The Bass Drop” with an all fem* DJ* -LineUp. Moreover, in cooperation with cultures interactive e.V., SPRINGSTOFF initiates the project “Spot on, girls!”, which works with young female refugees and non-refugee Berliners* via hiphop & skateboarding. Also, regardless of projects like „spot on, girls!“, many artists at SPRINGSTOFF offer workshops (as beat-making, recording, DJ*ing, rap) and give lectures on various topics such as politics in rap, anti-discrimination, self-defense.
All releases by SPRINGSTOFF are unique and outstanding: from feminist hip-hop activist Sookee to transgender artist Msoke, jazz musician and trumpeter Julian Maier-Hauff, who produces his electro sound live without samples, the band Komfortrauschen who produce minimal techno with a classic band setting (guitar, bass, drums), the trans*female rapper FaulenzA or the queer art performance duo Hyenaz. SPRINGSTOFF releases include sampler for campaigns such as “Make Some Noise – Sexism Homophobia & out of my music” or “Refugees Welcome – Gegen jeden Rassismus”.
Even at SPRINGSTOFF booking where all genres are possible, every artist has something special about them. However, they all have one thing in common: They all tell an extraordinary story.
SPRINGSTOFF – empowering music.
