Dear members, dear network partners,

Nightlife is a place where we want to forget our worries and party ecstatically with other people, even complete strangers. Provided we can do that easily, because events and nightlife in general are not a safe place for all people. In 2022, sexism, violence, racism and discrimination are still part of everyday life at many events. Although more and more event organisers are reacting and introducing “awareness concepts” to create “safer spaces”, far too few are dealing with this issue or lack the necessary information and tools.

How to make clubs, bars, music venues etc. a safer place where everyone feels more comfortable as an actor in the night culture, we worked out together with Johanna Bauhus (Safe the Dance; Ladies&Ladys Label) in the consultation session “Awareness work in event management: How can we create safer places?” on Thursday, 27 October from 10 am.

This talk session took place online via Zoom. Participation was only possible with confirmed registration (this is done automatically after registration).
About Johanna Bauhus

Johanna Bauhus is co-founder of Safe The Dance, an awareness, inclusion and diversity agency that uses awareness concepts and awareness managers to make events a safer space. They give workshops, talks and have teaching assignments, e.g. on “Awareness and Diversity in Culture and Media”. Johanna also runs the feminist music label Ladies&Ladys. Here she also organises concerts and festivals herself and plays bass in the band “Wenn einer lügt dann wir”.
