Sprechstunde “Diversity in the Music Business”

The “Sprechstunde Musikwirtschaft” is an open network format for exchange, consultation and problem analysis. With the support of experts, support and know-how for concrete questions and topics are offered in a small circle of participants at regular events.

On Thursday, February 24, 2022, we held our consultation hour for the music industry via video conference (Zoom) with Runa Hoffmann on the topic of “Diversity in the music industry”.

misc co-founder Runa Hoffmann used two studies and personal insights to show the status quo in the music industry – from sexism and racism to paygaps and structural problems. Despite many perceptible efforts towards a change in the industry, this is not very satisfactory. Afterwards, she presented possible solutions and participants were able to talk about their personal experiences, questions and problems in relation to the topic.

Runa Hoffmann has over 15 years of experience in the Berlin club and music business, from door management, production management, artist management to club management. Because of the visible grievances there, she founded Misc – The Agency for Cultural Change in 2020 together with Julia Gudzent and Demba Sanoh to address issues like diversity, equality and inclusion also behind the scenes and to actively encourage actors to bring about structural changes.

We would like to thank Runa for the informative talk and sharing her expertise and all participants for the lively exchange!
