The German Association for Music Business and Music Culture Research (GMK) was founded in 2014 in Porto. It is the first non-profit association that represents the field of research in music business and music culture in Germany, crossing disciplinary and academic boundaries. The GMM emerged from the networks of young as well as established researchers of different disciplines and is open for everybody that is interested in academic discourse about music business and music culture.
The purpose of the GMM lies in education and training to promote music business and music culture research, the exchange and cooperation between related courses of study, as well as to promote discussion and cooperation between science, art, critique and practice. These objectives are pursued through hosting regular events in music business and music culture research.
