Even though the current crisis demands a lot of attention from us, we must not lose sight of the other global crisis: climate change. We all long for concerts and festivals in real life. But if we want to continue to enjoy music in the future as we did before the pandemic, we need to make sustainable choices - and as soon as possible. A financial incentive to reduce CO2 emissions will also be in place from 2021 with the introduction of the CO2 tax.

In our nxtB:now online workTank „Collaboration for Change – Sustainability in the Live Music Sector" on November 25th, 10 - 12 am we would like to work out solutions for a sustainable transformation of the Berlin music industry, and especially the live music sector. Mauricio Lizarazo Prada (Pachamama Culture  has been working on the topic of sustainability in the creative industries for many years and is speaker of the BMC's working group on sustainability. Together with the Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin, he is working as a practical partner on the development of the Music C-A-R-E-S platform, which tracks and compensates the ecological balance of music events. His thesis: In the next two years, we should be able to track and reduce the CO2 emissions of our business activities and thus optimize cost-benefit. Together with Lukas Baumanns (B. Eng. Theatertechnik), he will present a study on sustainability in concert touring in the workTank, in order to then enter into an exchange with the participants about long-term solutions: How can we make our daily business more resource-efficient? What concrete goals and measures can we develop for the industry? What role can the music sector play in advancing the issue of sustainability in society?
