listen to berlin: Awards 2020 livestream!
The listen to berlin: Awards 2020 give the music and live music industry back its long-awaited limelight, thus honoring an industry that knows how to face the crisis with a great deal of creativity and courage. This year, all those players who have acted individually, strongly and visionary in times of the COVID-19 pandemic will be especially honored. The fifth edition of the Berlin Music Award will be broadcasted on November 3rd in a livestream and will take place in a small circle in front of an invited audience. Thus, the listen to berlin: Awards are the prelude to the Most Wanted: Music Convention (November 3 to 5), which this year also takes place onsite and online.
The music industry is a complex universe consisting of artists, labels, management, music publishers, venues and organizers, music media, MusicTech start-ups and many other players. This broad spectrum and the untiring creative and willpower of the industry form the heart of the listen to berlin: Awards. The Berlin Music Award honors commitment and attitude – regardless of celebrity and sales figures. In an economically, ecologically, and politically challenging time, the listen to berlin: Awards once again prove that this is an industry that seeks – and finds – creative ways out of the crisis. For this reason, the Berlin Music Commission (BMC) is dedicating the newly created Business Award 2020 this year to all those players who have dealt with the adversities in a particularly innovative and creative way by taking the right and important measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, thus paving the way for the future. A prize that makes it clear: the energy of the industry is unbroken!
Starting immediately and until September 14, nominations will be accepted in seven of a total of nine categories. With the Rolf Budde Prize for attitude in the music industry, BMC once again sets an example of civil courage within the creative sector and for the preservation of an open society. The Prize for Promotion and Development of the Berlin Music Scene will also be awarded this year to a person or project that has*s made a special mark on Berlin as a city of music. In addition, the prize honors an artist, entrepreneur or initiative with a special charisma for Berlin as a music location. The following can also be nominated: outstanding commitment to more sustainability and a “greener” Berlin music landscape, remarkable journalistic or publicity work, and the most creative music video. The jury prize and the audience prize will again honor the strongest songs of the 13th listen to berlin: compilation. More information: www.listen-to-berlin-award.de.
