Participants will receive a grant towards their travel expenses during the project period. The trip must take place by 30 November 2025.
“The Music Ambassador Programme is a strategic tool for the internationalisation of Berlin’s music scene. It actively fosters new partnerships, supports sustainable networks, and brings Berlin perspectives into global contexts. In doing so, it directly contributes to the core mission of BMC: strengthening the international visibility and future viability of Berlin’s music industry.” – Olaf Kretschmar, CEO Berlin Music Commission eG
For eleven years, the Berlin Music Commission’s Music Ambassador Programme has been specifically supporting artists seeking international exchange – be it through conference trips, strategic collaborations or the initiation of new partnerships.
“Through this collaboration, we are strengthening the international presence of Berlin-based music creators. The Music Ambassador Programme offers them the opportunity to explore new markets, build global networks, and strategically advance their careers. We are very pleased to once again partner with BMC to provide travel funding – not only for artists but also for their teams, such as managers and bookers – helping to showcase the diversity and innovative strength of Berlin’s music scene on a global stage.” – Marie von der Heydt, Managing Director of Musicboard Berlin GmbH

Music Ambassador Delegation POP X KOSMOS Chemnitz – German-Czech music dialogue
Delegation trips are another component of the Music Ambassador programme. As part of POP X KOSMOS, a delegation visited the European Capital of Culture 2025, Chemnitz, on 13 and 14 June 2025. Together with Kreatives Sachsen, SoundCzech and Kreativní Praha, the Berlin Music Commission brought together around 30 German and Czech music professionals – for cross-border networking, content exchange and new collaborations.
The participants represented the broad spectrum of the music industry ecosystem: from label owners, music managers and festival organisers to operators of socio-cultural centres in rural areas, galleries and active musicians. During the all-day expert dialogue, working contexts were presented, contacts made and common topics identified. A walk through the city and a visit to the Chemnitz band office were followed by project inputs, speed meetings and a concert evening with acts from both countries. The conclusion of the participants was consistently positive. Despite – or perhaps because of – the high diversity of professions, backgrounds and languages, the exchange was intensive, productive and inspiring. The exchange is to be continued in October as part of ReConnect in Brno.
The Music Ambassador Programme is run on behalf of the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. The programme is open to musicians and their professional teams as part of a cooperation with Musicboard Berlin.
The German-Czech Music Dialogue is funded by the German-Czech Future Fund and the City of Prague. Project partners are Soundczech, the Berlin Music Commission and Kreativní Praha.
