Werkstatt der Kulturen is an event location and festival producer for transcultural art and action. In addition to the regular in-house events “Thursdays Is Cinema Day” and the weekly “Transmusikale” evening concert, cooperative projects with cultural organizations as well as guest events conceptualized by temporary occupants also take place. As festival organizer, Werkstatt der Kulturen has established a national reputation with “Carnival of Cultures,” the “Bewegte Welten” dance festival, “creole” music competition, and for the first time in 2008 with the “Nelson Mandela Festival.” Werkstatt der Kulturen is supported by the Berlin Senate.
