Facts & figures of the music business in the capital region (2010)

1. There are over 2.100 companies with more than 16.000 employees.

2. About 1 billion Euro is achieved yearly.

3. Big music companies like Universal Music Germany, DEAG, Sony Music Entertainment and EuroArts Medien are settled in Berlin.

4. The ECHO Award, Berlin Music Week with music fair popkomm and Berlin Festival, Young Euro Classics, club transmediale (CTM) are taking place here.

5. The creative music scene is a pulse generator for the music economy.

6. The metropolis has got the greatest concert-living with over 250 live-locations, 130 national event- and promotion agencies and concert organizers.

7. Berlin has got an excellent infrastructure with more then 90 recording studios.

8. Renowned music universities like the »Hanns Eisler« and the »Universität der Künste« are settled here.

9. The registered office of the most important networks and associations like Phono Verband, Club Commission, Label Commission and Berlin Music Commission are settled in the capital city.

10. The internal revenue of both operating margins result 10.055.045€.

11. The actual „medien.barometer“, a yearly business climate index of Medienboard and media.net berlinbrandenburg said, that 58% of all companies are expecting an increase of sales. Counterpart of the expectation of the year 2009 this is a plus of 21%.

12. The whole creative economy with 30.000 companies and 220.000 employees achieves around 20 billion Euro a year.

13. 365 million € in the cultural budget, more than 200 million € to the stage. Only 10 € million flowing into the independent scene and in a city where half of the artists deserve their money as a freelancer.
